Just recently, the Indy crew went for a walk down memory lane, looking at old Whitney Houston videos (like most of the world has been doing recently) when we noticed that one of our favorite videos is very reminiscent of one of Whitney's.

"Funky Hydrophonic" performed by Alex Kelly and directed by Bruce Bohman reminded us SO MUCH of Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" for two reasons.





The first thing we found to be similar between the two videos is the bold, bright color schemes. Reds, pinks, blues, yellows, greens. All solid. And these aren't your epileptic splashes of color, either. Both videos are easy on the eye. They have digestible colors that reminded us of the onslaught of SPRING!!

The second thing that stood out is that both of these videos experiment with split screen-play and timing to create different pictures that interact with each other.

Anyhow, we like it. What do you think?

Web show showcasing independent music of all genres is currently looking for a new co-host. We're looking for White, Asian, or Latin males between the ages of 21-27. Candidates must be open-minded about all musical genres and possess a well rounded understanding of music theory, and how music is made.


Ideal Candidate is charismatic and a quick thinker. 


In addition to a new host, this is an open call to music acts interested in being showcased. If you are an INDEPENDENT MUSIC ARTIST and you think you've got chops, come see us. Please bring a sample of your music for us to take with us.

Some of the Indy team took time out of the week to work with Akon and Verse Simmonds on a couple videos. The music videos, directed by the up-and-coming Mustafa Mahdi, will be the latest from Verse Simmonds. During one of the video shoots, Akon and his brother, Def Jam's own Bu Thiam held a DJ battle. So, while wandering around the internet, some of the Indy team stumbled over this video randomly. We like it. It's different. A bit raw in lyrics, and very simple, strong cinematography make "Ima Read" by Zebra Katz stand out as a song and a video. Whether you like it or not, its an experience thats fun to talk about.
